Full moon day is auspicious to seek blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and Moon God. The last full moon of this year falls on Thursday, December 4, 2025. What to do on full moon night?
The day of full moon is considered special for financial prosperity, health and peace. You can adopt these measures this night:
Worship Goddess Lakshmi: Worship Goddess Lakshmi with full rituals on the evening of full moon. Light a lamp in front of them and chant the mantra “Om Shreem Hreem Kleem Tribhuvan Mahalakshmyai Asmanka Daridrya Nashay Prabhar Dhan Dehi Dehi Kleem Hreem Shreem Om” 108 times.
Offer water to the moon: On the night of full moon, put water, rice and flowers in a vessel and offer Arghya to them while facing the moon. It is believed that this strengthens the position of the Moon in the horoscope.
Chant the mantras: To seek the blessings of Lakshmi and Narayana on the full moon night, chant mantras like “Om Lakshmiye Namah” or “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya” for mental peace and spiritual progress.
Recite Sri Sukta or Kanakadhara Stotra: To get rid of debt and gain wealth, one should recite Shri Sukta or Kanakadhara Stotra on the full moon night. With this, Goddess Lakshmi resides in the house.
Tulsi Puja: On the full moon night, light a lamp of pure ghee under the Tulsi plant and revolve around it seven times. Chant the mantra of Tulsi Mata all the time. It is believed that this brings happiness and prosperity to the house.
Donation: Donate food, clothes or money on the full moon day. Donating things related to Moon, like white food and clothes, improves the position of Moon in the horoscope.
Lighting a lamp under the Peepal tree: Lighting a lamp under the Peepal tree on the evening of the full moon can strengthen your financial position. There is a religious belief that this also brings blessings of the Trinity.

Keep the cowries: On the evening of the full moon, offer five yellow cowries to Goddess Lakshmi, then tie them in a red cloth and keep them in your safe. It is believed that this brings wealth forever.
Worship of Shivalinga: On the full moon night, anoint Shivlinga with milk, curd and honey and recite Shiv Chalisa. It is believed that any pending work can be completed with this.
Do not do these things even by mistake on the day of full moon
- Hair, beard and nails should not be cut on the day of full moon. Doing this on the full moon day brings poverty in the house.
- Avoid sleeping till late in the morning on the day of full moon. If possible, wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath and then worship.
- Avoid Tamasic food like meat, fish, eggs, onion and garlic on the day of Aghana Purnima. Also avoid alcohol and other intoxicants.
- Do not insult any poor person who comes to your house on the day of full moon. Otherwise Goddess Lakshmi may get angry with you.
- Do not wear black clothes on the day of Margashirsha Purnima. Otherwise the influence of negative forces will increase in your life.
