Margashirsha Puja Benefits: According to belief, Margashirsha (Agahan) month is a very favorite month of Lord Shri Krishna. By bathing, donating and donating lamps in this holy month, all sins are destroyed and the doors of salvation open for the person. Lord Shri Krishna himself has said in Srimad Bhagavad Gita that “I am the leader among the months”. There is a tradition of taking bath in holy rivers or at home in Brahma Muhurta in the holy month of Margashirsha month. It is believed that taking bath in this month destroys sins and purifies the body, mind and soul.
When is Margashirsha month 2025 starting? (Margashirsha Month 2025 date)
According to the Panchang, this year the month of Margashirsha is starting from Thursday, 6 November 2025. This holy month starts from the next day of Kartik Purnima and it will end with Margashirsha Purnima on 04 December 2025.
Simple worship method of Margashirsha month
In the month of Margashirsha, special worship of the child form of Lord Shri Krishna (Bal Gopal/Laddoo Gopal) and Lord Vishnu should be done. Throughout the month, wake up before sunrise and take a holy bath. After bath, wear clean clothes. Bathe the idol of Lord Krishna/Vishnu with Panchamrit or milk. Offer him yellow bright clothes, Gopi sandalwood and Tulsi leaves. Chant Tulsi rosary at least 108 times every day during this month. Reciting Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta, Vishnu Sahasranama, or Gajendra Moksha Stotra is considered especially fruitful. In the evening, light a ghee lamp near Tulsi Mata and worship her.
Religious importance of Margashirsha month
Margashirsha month is considered the best time for religion, knowledge, devotion and meditation. According to religious texts, the results of auspicious deeds done in this month are manifold.
Form of Shri Krishna: Lord Shri Krishna has described this month as his form, hence this month is best for his devotion and worship.
Destruction of sins: It is believed that by regularly bathing, donating and chanting in this holy month, all the sins of a person are destroyed.
Attainment of salvation: In the month of Margashirsha, the doors of salvation open through self-purification, religious activities and true devotion and man gets freedom from the bondage of life and death.
Bath, donation and lamp donation
Holy Bath (Yamuna/Ganga Bath)
Importance: In the scriptures, there is a special virtue of taking bath in Yamuna river in the month of Margashirsha.
If bathing in the river is not possible, you can take bath at home by mixing Ganga water or basil leaves in the bathing water.
great donation
Importance: Donating as per one’s capacity in this month is considered extremely virtuous.
What to donate: Food (like rice, pulses), clothes, money and blankets should be donated to the needy.
lamp donation
Importance: There is a special tradition of Deepdan (lighting of lamps) during the entire month of Margashirsha.
Where to light the lamp?
Near Tulsi: Lighting a lamp of pure desi ghee near the Tulsi plant in the evening is considered very auspicious. This removes the shortage of money and grains.
Main Gate: Lighting lamps daily on both sides of the main entrance of the house brings positive energy into the house and removes negativity.
