Marco Jansen five-wicket haul: Marco Jansson first tormented the Indian team with the bat in the Guwahati Test and then he wreaked havoc with the ball as well. This left arm fast bowler single-handedly bowled out half of Team India’s innings on the third day of the Guwahati Test. Yanson took 6 wickets for just 48 runs and with this he made a big record in his name. Team India was reduced to just 201 runs in front of Janson’s havoc bowling and South Africa got a huge lead of 288 runs in the first innings.

This is how Yanson wreaked havoc

Generally, spinners are dominant on Indian pitches, but in Guwahati, Yanson was in great form. This 6 feet 8 inches tall player did not allow the Indian batsmen to catch wind with his bouncers. Yanson took the wickets of Dhruv Jurel, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. Yanson troubled the Indian batsmen a lot with his bouncers. Let us tell you that this fast bowler took five out of six wickets only on bouncers.

Yanson made this record

Marco Jansson achieved a five-wicket haul for the fourth time in his Test career by taking 6 wickets against India. For the first time against India, he took five wickets in an innings and this is his best bowling performance on Indian soil. Marco Janson is the first South African left arm player who has not only scored an inning of more than fifty runs against India on Indian soil but also achieved a five wicket haul. Only three players in the world have been able to do this feat. The last time England’s John Lever did such a feat was in 1976.

After 25 years, a South African player has achieved the feat of scoring fifty runs along with taking five wickets in India. Before Marco Yanson, this feat was done by Nikki Boye in 2000.

India was not given follow on

Due to the excellent bowling of Marco Janson, the Indian team was bundled out for 201 runs but South Africa did not allow the team to follow on. This is the first time that a team took a lead of 288 runs against India in India and was not given follow-on.
