Snowfall In Jammu Kashmir: People had to face a lot of problems due to heavy rain and snowfall in the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Traffic on Jammu-Srinagar and Srinagar-Leh national highways as well as Mughal Road has been completely closed.
Snowfall In Jammu Kashmir: Landslides occurred in the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday due to heavy rain and snowfall. Due to this many major roads have been closed. Movement of vehicles has been completely stopped on Jammu-Srinagar and Srinagar-Leh national highways as well as on Mughal Road. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which connects Kashmir to the rest of the country, was closed due to landslides and rockfall. Teams are on site to clear the road.
When will the road open?
Machines and teams have been sent to the spot to clear the road. Officials say the road will be partially opened by afternoon. At present, all vehicles have been stopped at Nagrota in Jammu. Officials said that the 434 km long Srinagar-Leh National Highway, Mughal Road and Sinthan Top Road are also closed due to accumulation of snow. Kishtwar district has received three to four inches of snowfall. Six inches of snowfall was recorded in Zojila Pass. The road between Udhampur and Banihal was closed on Tuesday morning due to landslides and falling of stones at many places. Machines and teams are deployed at the spot to clear the road. Officials hope the road will be partially reopened by afternoon. At present all the vehicles have been stopped at Nagrota in Jammu.

Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra postponed for third day due to bad weather
Besides this, the 434 km long Srinagar-Leh Highway and alternative routes like Mughal Road and Sinthan Top are also closed due to fresh snowfall. Six inches of snow has fallen on Zojila Pass, while Peer Ki Gali on Mughal Road and Sinthan Top in Kishtwar have received three to four inches of snow. Snowfall has also occurred in upper parts of Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts. The weather department said that the weather is expected to clear from Wednesday and there will be no rain or snowfall for the next 15 days. Due to bad weather, the Yatra of Mata Vaishno Devi and Machail Mata remained postponed for the third day. These journeys are expected to resume from Wednesday.
