Many Muslim families have left the rented house after the action of a mentally unbalanced youth in the temple in Pune district of Maharashtra. At the same time, some people are also accused of pressure to close business and target minorities.
The case is related to some villages of Mulshi taluka in Pune district of Maharashtra, in which incidents of alleged boycott have come to light against people of minority community. These allegations have been made by an organization called People’s Union for Civil Liberty (PUCL).
A letter has also been given to the Chief Secretary of the state in this regard. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeepsingh Gill has said,
‘If there is any such complaint, contact the police immediately.’
PUCL President and Retired Judge G.D. Other officials along with Parekh have said in the request,
‘For the last few days, efforts are being made to boycott the shops and businesses of the minority community in Paud and Pirrangut areas. For this, banners were installed in some places and signature campaign was conducted.
What is the role of the police?
SP Sandeepsingh Gill informed that,
‘In May, such incidents took place in Paud area. As soon as the police got information about this, the banners installed there were removed. A meeting of local villagers was held. Minority businessmen and laborers who went out are now returning. A joint meeting of the villagers and police has been taken. If someone has any problem, he should contact the police directly.
