Adipurush writer Manoj Muntashir received a solid backlash from the audience and critics for the dialogues and overall representation of the Indian epic, Ramayana, in the Om Raut-directed film. The writer-lyricist issued an apology after the failure of the Prabhas starrer. Amidst all, Manoj Muntashir recently defended Adipurush songs after they were compared to Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana songs, composed by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Manoj mentioned in his latest X post that Adipurush was a bad film, but nobody can criticise Adipurush songs as they are still being played at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir as well.

took to his X handle and reacted to the backlash to Mangal Rang. The writer wrote a note in Hindi, in which he stated, “Manoj Muntashir-style stunt? The country’s self-proclaimed best news channel has said something as ignorant as the illiterate masses.”

He defended the songs of Adipurush penned by him and stated that every child in the country sings them despite disliking the Om Raut-directed film. He stated, “My brother, I wish my stunt had been repeated in the songs of the Ramayana. Adipurush was a very bad film; the dialogues were even worse, but the songs—every child in the country sings them. Go to Shri Ayodhya sometime, and you’ll hear nothing but  songs playing in every alley.”

Manoj also informed all the netizens that he has already apologised to Lord Ram devotees countless times and asked not to challenge the songs. He concluded his note by stating, “The mistake I made, I’ve apologised to the Ram devotees for it countless times, and forgiveness was granted, but don’t challenge the songs. There was no lack of devotion, dedication, or poetry in them. I didn’t write nursery rhymes for Ram, nor qawwalis. People ahead are wise; they know who’s worth what. Jai Shri Ram.” (sic)

Manoj Muntashir’s post is going viral on social media, and netizens have been reacting to it. For the unversed, Adipurush was a box office disaster. It starred Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage in key roles.
