Manish Malhotra mother passes away: The film and fashion fraternity gathered in Mumbai on March 19 as celebrated designer Manish Malhotra mourned the loss of his mother, Sudarshan Malhotra. She passed away at the age of 94, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a strong personal legacy that shaped one of India’s most influential designers.
As news of her demise spread, several Bollywood personalities arrived at Manish’s residence to offer their condolences. Among the first to reach was Arjun Kapoor, who shares a close bond with the designer. Soon after, Karisma Kapoor, Sonali Bendre, Urmila Matondkar and Fatima Sana Shaikh were also seen visiting his home, standing by him during this difficult time.

Manish Malhotra had often spoken about the deep connection he shared with his mother. He lived with her in Mumbai, and her influence on his personal and professional life remained profound. The loss is particularly emotional for the designer, who had earlier lost his father in 2019 due to age-related health issues.
In past interviews and social media posts, Manish frequently credited his mother for encouraging his early interest in fashion. On Mother’s Day in 2024, he shared a heartfelt message that reflected their bond. “My mother. My Strength, Inspiration and My Companion as I have always lived with her with only Respect and love .. This morning having tea with her I was thanking her for always encouraging my love for clothes and movies since childhood. Happy Mothers Day,” he wrote.
He also recalled, during a conversation with Twinkle Khanna, how his passion for styling began at home. “I used to tell her your saree is not looking good, you should wear this jewellery with this saree,” he said.
