Dubai: Team India’s superstar batter and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has etched her name into the world record books. Scoring a brilliant century in the opening match of the Asia Cup, Mandhana crossed multiple major milestones.
In the match played against Hong Kong, China on Thursday, Smriti smashed 124 runs. Facing 64 balls, her century knock was studded with 14 boundaries and seven sixes.
With this, Smriti Mandhana became the leading run-scorer in women’s international cricket. Overtaking Mithali Raj’s record of 10,868 runs, she now holds 10,880 runs in international cricket.
Thursday’s century was Smriti’s 18th international hundred. The stylish left-handed batter climbed to the top spot on the list of most centuries in women’s cricket, surpassing Meg Lanning and Laura Wolvaardt, who have 17 centuries each. Mandhana has scored two centuries in T20Is, two in Tests, and 14 in ODIs.
Her score of 124 on Thursday is now the highest individual score for India in women’s T20Is, surpassing her own record of 112 runs against England in 2025.
Mandhana’s 124 is also the highest individual score in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. Previously, Chamari Athapaththu’s unbeaten 119 against Malaysia in 2024 was the highest individual score in the tournament.
Mandhana is now the highest six-hitter for India in women’s T20Is, surpassing Harmanpreet Kaur. With seven sixes against Hong Kong, her overall T20I sixes tally has risen to 95.
