New Delhi: Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, taking a huge step towards solving their goalkeeping woes in the ongoing season. United were also in for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, but decided to sign 23-year-old Lammens, whom they have scouted extensively.
As per The Athletic, United have agreed a fee of 21 million euros plus 4 million euros in add-ons with Royal Antwerp for Lammens. The player is travelling to Manchester for his medical as both teams aim to wrap up the transfer before the summer transfer window closes at 11:30 PM IST on Monday. Lammens will become the 4th keeper in United’s current squad.
He will join the likes of Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton, who are already contracted at the club. United might look to move on one of Onana or Bayindir after the arrival of Lammens, however, a deal might not be easy to pull off on deadline day. Onana, who was the first-choice keeper at the club, has fallen in the pecking order after his disastrous show in United’s defeat to 4th tier side, Grimsby Town.
