Man Of Tomorrow: Nicholas Hoult Debuts In Lex Luthor’s War Suit – Is It DC Comics Accurate?

Nicholas Hoult’s first look as Lex Luthor in Man of Tomorrow is out, and it is everything that can leave fans curious. That’s because the actor is seen sporting a suit, which seems like DC Studios is ready to give us the iconic Superman villain. Lex Luthor’s new avatar is bound to make his way to the big screen in one of the most recognisable costumes from the DC comics. Written and directed by James Gunn, Man of Tomorrow is the fourth film in the DC Universe (DCU) and a follow-up to Superman (2025). Apart from Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet returns as Clark Kent / Superman, along with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

On June 1, director and DC Studios co-head  dropped an intriguing still from the set of the upcoming film featuring Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor through his social media handles. But the catch was that the character was seen wearing his signature green-and-purple battle armour. Gunn jokingly captioned the costume tease as, “Fit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow.”

Does it do justice to DC Comics?

Comic book fans were instantly excited by the reveal, with many praising the costume for doing full justice to the classic design. Many DC fans were also convinced that the production is being cautious towards taking the major visual trademark of Lex Luthor and turning a long-time comic-book staple into live-action with appropriate detailing.

When   was announced, James Gunn and Nicholas Hoult shared comic-book art of Lex Luthor in his classic battle armour. Gunn later said on social media that the armour was built as a fully practical costume, not relying heavily on visual effects. “It’s unbelievably mobile,” Gunn wrote. “And yeah in the movie version, he’s added unbreakable Lexiglas [trademarked].”

Hoult said he was able to “move incredibly well” and called the suit surprisingly flexible for how imposing it looked.
