Navi Mumbai Viral Video: A heartbreaking incident from Navi Mumbai’s Kopar Khairane area has left people shocked and furious. A man was caught on video hitting a 16-year-old stray dog with a thick wooden plank. The video, posted on social media by animal rescuer Mohammed Raiz, shows the helpless dog being hit again and again with a heavy stick. Raiz, along with his team, Vijay Rangare, Aditya, Tarun, and Sanket Bhatt, immediately stepped in. They tracked down the man and confronted him. Thankfully, the dog was rescued and is now safe.
In another post, Raiz claimed that the attacker’s mother not only encouraged her son but also later defended his actions. She allegedly said they’d “do it again if necessary,” which made people even angrier online. The video quickly went viral. In one clip, a woman can be seen slapping the man with her slippers on the road, calling him out for his cruelty.
Meanwhile, the good news is that the dog is recovering. The Street Dogs of Bombay group gave an update on Instagram, saying, “The senior dog who was badly beaten is now safe. He’s getting better, thanks to Dr. Kartik Iyer and his kind team. They are giving him all the care, love, and attention he needs. We’re hopeful he will soon go back to his usual spot at his little home on the street.”

This incident has sparked a wave of online support for the voiceless and a strong demand for stricter action against cruelty to animals. While one part of the social media defended the act of the man. The post shared on X (Formerly Twitter) by the handle ‘gharkekalesh‘ yesterday garnered significant likes, comments, and views from people. “It’s easy to come in a group and beat a physically weak guy in the name of justice. But there’s a reason people are afraid of stray dogs. You don’t dare to see the other side of the coin. This is a Shameful act done by so-called ‘dhog lowers, ‘” a user wrote.
“The man should put a criminal case against these street dog rakshak gangs. After the group remains in jail for attempted murder, they will understand that the right to human life is paramount,” a second user wrote. “Not only this man but each and every one is at fault and criminal… Will police take action on all?” added a third user.
