Actress Malavika Mohanan has said that increasing the number of women directors and writers in Indian cinema is essential to creating stronger and more diverse roles for female actors.
Speaking about the portrayal of women on screen, Malavika observed that the industry still has relatively few women working behind the camera. She believes a greater female perspective in filmmaking would lead to more nuanced storytelling and better opportunities for women-centric characters.
The actress, who has frequently appeared in glamorous roles, said she is eager to explore action-driven characters and hopes to break away from conventional casting. She added that she would like to headline an action film similar in spirit to international female-led action movies.
Malavika recently made her Telugu debut opposite Prabhas in ‘The Raja Saab’. While the film did not achieve the expected commercial success, she continues to remain active across multiple film industries. Her next release will see her sharing screen space with Karthi in ‘Sardar 2’.
