The winter season has started. In this season, due to cold, there is a greater need to keep the body warm, so that problems like cold and cough can be avoided. In such weather, many methods have been suggested in Ayurveda to keep the body strong from within, out of which Chyawanprash is considered to be the most effective. It is not just a tonic, but a traditional medicinal mixture rich in herbs, spices and nutrients. It not only increases the immunity of the body but also protects against seasonal diseases.
Actually, many brands of Chyawanprash are available in the market. But they often contain preservatives and high sugar content. In such a situation, if you prepare pure and nutritious Chyawanprash at home, it will not only be more healthy but will also taste better. Ingredients required to make 1 kg Chyawanprash
Amla 1 kg
Ghee 200 grams
honey 250 grams
Jaggery or sugar 500 grams
Spice Mix (Herbs)
Pipli 5 grams
cinnamon 5 grams
Cardamom (green) 5 grams
bay leaf 23
Nagkesar 2 grams
Mulethi 10 grams
Ashwagandha 10 grams
Asparagus 10 grams
Vidarikand 10 grams
clove 23
black pepper 5 grams
dry ginger 5 grams
sesame oil 1 tsp
Method of preparation
Step 1: Making Amla Paste
First of all, wash and dry the gooseberry. Take water in a pan, add amla in it and boil it. When it cools down, remove the seeds and grind the pulp in a mixer to make a paste. Put some ghee in a pan and fry the amla paste on low flame. Keep stirring continuously so that it does not stick to the bottom. When the color becomes dark and the ghee starts appearing separately, turn off the flame.
Step 2: Prepare jaggery/sugar syrup
Now take a separate pan and mix some water with jaggery or sugar in it. Heat it until a string of syrup is formed. Now add this syrup to the amla paste and mix well.
Step 3: Adding Herbs
Mix all the herbs and grind them. Then add 1 teaspoon sesame oil and remaining ghee and keep stirring on low flame. When the mixture becomes thick, aromatic and sticky, turn off the gas. When the mixture cools completely, add honey. Mix well and fill it in a glass bottle.
How to consume Chyaanprash?
Consuming Chyaanprash in winter is very beneficial. People of all ages can eat it. Take 1 to 2 teaspoons in the morning on an empty stomach or with milk. Give ½ teaspoon to children with milk or lukewarm water.
