Story of the birth of Makardhwaj

The story of the birth of Makardhwaj is described in Valmiki Ramayana and some mythological texts. It is believed that when Hanuman ji met Mother Sita. After that he was presented in the court of Lankapakti Ravana, where his tail was set on fire. After this he burnt Lanka with his burning tail. After the burning of Lanka, Hanuman ji jumped into the sea to extinguish the fire in his tail.

Due to the raging fire of Lanka, Hanuman ji’s body temperature had become very high. That is why when he reached the cold water of the sea, a drop of sweat from his body fell into it. At that time there was a huge fish in the sea. He unknowingly swallowed the drop that came out of Hanuman ji’s body. Due to the influence of that drop, that Capricorn conceived.

Was born as a Capricorn and a Monkey

After some time, the underworld king Ahiravan caught that Makar. After this, when the stomach of the fish was cut, a child came out of it. This child was born in the form of both a Capricorn and a monkey. After this, Ahiravana took that child into his service and made him the gatekeeper of Patalpuri. During the war with Ravana, Ahiravana brought Lord Ram and Lakshman to the underworld.

After this, when Hanuman ji reached the underworld to rescue Lord Ram and Lakshman, he met Makardhwaj. There was a fight between Makardhwaj and Hanuman ji at the gate. Then Makardhwaj told the story of his birth, after which Hanuman ji came to know that he was his own son.
