The Mahindra XUV 3XO recently gained a new CNG variant starting from Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It’s the brand’s first CNG offering, and it will directly compete against the CNG and Maruti Brezza CNG. Here’s how the Mahindra compares against the other two:
| Specifications | Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG | Tata Nexon iCNG | Maruti Brezza CNG |
| Length | 3,990 mm | 3,995 mm | 3,995 mm |
| Width | 1,821 mm | 1,804 mm | 1,790 mm |
| Height | 1,647 mm | 1,620 mm | 1,685 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,600 mm | 2,498 mm | 2,500 mm |
| Boot Space | 270 litres | 321 litres | 328 litres |
| CNG Tank Capacity (water equivalent) | 60 litres | 60 litres | 55 litres |
| Fuel Tank Capacity | 42 litres | 44 litres | 48 litre |
Despite its shorter overall length, the Mahindra XUV 3XO ends up with a longer wheelbase, which indicates a spacious cabin here. Tata and Mahindra SUVs come with twin CNG cylinders placed beneath the boot bed, preserving usable luggage space. Despite having the same CNG tank capacity, the Nexon iCNG offers 51 litres more boot space than the XUV 3XO CNG. On the other hand, the CNG tank on the Brezza CNG is placed under the body, which helps it to retain an entire 328 litres boot capacity.
| Specifications | Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG | Tata Nexon iCNG | Maruti Brezza CNG |
| Engine | 1.2-litre turbo-petrol-CNGÂ | 1.2-litre turbo-petrol-CNGÂ | 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol-CNG |
| Power (CNG mode) | 111 PS | 100 PS | 103 PS |
| Torque (CNG mode) | 200 Nm | 170 Nm | 121.5 Nm |
| Transmission | 6-speed MT | 6-speed MT | 6-speed MT |
| Claimed fuel efficiency | 24.7 km/kg | 24 km/kg | 26.90 km/kg |
With a bigger engine comes more power, and the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is clearly leading the charge here. The performance is not available with compromised fuel efficiency figures, and yet it is still trailing CNG and the Tata Nexon iCNG in this regard.
| Features | Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG | Tata Nexon iCNG | Maruti Brezza CNG |
| Infotainment | 10.25-inch | 10.25-inch | 7-inch |

| Rear sunshade | No | Yes | No |
| Seat Ventilation | No | Yes | No |
| Airbags | 6 | 6 | 6 |

Out of all three, the Tata Nexon iCNG comes out as the most feature rich option featuring a 360 degree camera, rear sunshade, ventilated front seats, and an 8-speaker sound system. On the other hand, the XUV 3XO ZNG is the only CNG SUV in this comparison to get dual-zone AC. The Brezza may get the smallest touchscreen, it still offers support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Rivals Prices
The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 12.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the Tata Nexon iCNG (Rs 8.35 lakh to Rs 13.72 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)) and Maruti Brezza CNG (Rs 9.40 lakh to Rs 11.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)).
Verdict
From the above comparison, it’s clear that the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is the best-rounded package of the three, offering the most powerful CNG engine and all essential features. The Tata Nexon iCNG, on the other hand, is the most feature-loaded, but its top-spec variant costs Rs 1.4 lakh more than the top-spec XUV 3XO ZNG. Talking about the Brezza, it offers least features but highest fuel efficiency. So, if you want a perfect balance of performance and efficiency, the XUV 3XO ZNG is the one to pick. If you’re looking for all the bells and whistles in a CNG SUV, the Nexon iCNG is an obvious choice. Meanwhile, the Brezza CNG makes the most sense if you prioritise boot space and fuel efficiency.
