Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG launched at Rs 9.99 lakh, twin-cylinder setup to offer 24.7 km mileage

Mahindra has introduced a factory-fitted CNG option for the XUV 3XO, giving buyers another alternative to petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. Priced from Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new XUV 3XO ZNG features a twin-cylinder CNG arrangement and a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.70km. The launch marks Mahindra’s entry into the factory-fitted CNG passenger vehicle segment with its current SUV line-up.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG price and variants

XUV 3XO CNG range starts at Rs 9.99 lakh. The model joins a growing group of compact SUVs offering factory-fitted CNG, including the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

The twin-cylinder setup places the CNG tanks in the boot. This arrangement helps distribute the gas storage across two cylinders, although buyers should check the remaining luggage space before making a purchase decision.

XUV 3XO CNG: Features and equipment

The CNG version retains the familiar exterior design of the petrol-powered XUV 3XO, with ZNG badging on the tailgate as a distinguishing detail.

Equipment highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and a panoramic sunroof. It also gets leatherette seats, connected LED tail-lamps, front and rear armrests, and three steering modes: Normal, Comfort and Sport.

Mileage and powertrain details

Mahindra claims a fuel efficiency of 24.70km/kg for the XUV 3XO CNG. The SUV uses a 1.2-litre petrol engine adapted for CNG operation, although detailed CNG-mode power and torque figures should be checked against the final variant specifications.

The CNG option is aimed at buyers seeking lower fuel expenses without switching to an electric vehicle. Its appeal will depend on real-world mileage, the price difference over equivalent petrol variants and how much boot space remains usable with the twin-cylinder arrangement.

 XUV 3XO CNG vs rivals

The new variant takes on the Tata Nexon CNG and Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. The Nexon also offers a twin-cylinder arrangement, while the Brezza competes with Maruti Suzuki’s established CNG ecosystem.

For buyers who want a compact SUV with a long feature list and lower running costs, the XUV 3XO CNG adds another option. A final comparison should account for variant-wise equipment, local CNG prices, service access and the actual luggage capacity available.
