Mahindra XEV 9e vs Tesla Model Y: The newly launched Model Y is Tesla’s first product for India in the nearly 5-meter-long all-electric coupe-SUV segment. The Model Y starts at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level rear-wheel drive variant, positioning itself in the range of the Volvo EC40 (Rs 59 lakh) and the Kia EV6 (Rs 65.97 lakh). Despite it being priced as such, the Tesla Model Y misses out on features that are present in the Mahindra XEV 9e, the all-electric coupe-SUV, priced between Rs 21.90 lakh and Rs 30.50 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom).
The XEV 9e is Mahindra’s flagship electric SUV that slots above the BE 6 in Mahindra’s Born Electric family. Launched in India last year, the XEV 9e offers these five features that the Tesla Model Y lacks. Continue reading to find out what they are:
Triple Screen Setup
The Mahindra XEV 9e comes with a unique triple-screen setup consisting of an infotainment display, a driver’s instrument cluster, and a passenger’s screen. Each screen measures 12.3 inches. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model makes do with a free-standing 15.4-inch touchscreen.
Panoramic Glass Roof with Ambient Lighting
The XEV 9e has a large panoramic glass roof with 16 million colour options for ambient lighting, whereas the Model Y has a glass roof with ultraviolet and infrared protection.
16-speaker sound system
Mahindra has equipped the XEV 9e with a 16-speaker, 1,400-watt Harman Kardon sound system, whereas Tesla offers a 9-speaker audio system.
