The Mahindra Scorpio N has become quite a popular SUV in the past few years that it has been on for sale and to make it more lucrative, Mahindra has added new variants and also ADAS Level 2 functionality to the vehicle. The price for the top spec trim with all the added features starts from Rs 21.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
Lets start with the new variant. There is now a Z8T variant which slots between the Z8 and the Z8L. The Z8T is essentially the Z8L variant without the Level 2 ADAS functionality. The price has increased by about Rs 46,000 for the top of the line Z8L. The Level 2 ADAS features forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist and traffic sigh recognition. It also gets speed limit assist and front vehicle start alert.
Mahindra has also added some new features. There is an electronic parking brake, and auto-hold as well. This is only available from the Z8T variant though.
As far as the drivetrain goes, the Scorpio N stays the same mechanically with a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L diesel engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It can be optioned with a 4×4 system as well although Mahindra had removed the rear mechanical locking differential from the Scorpio N only leaving it with a Brake Locking Differential which is essentially the traction control mimicking a differential.
