The upcoming Mahindra Vision S-based model is one of India’s most anticipated compact SUVs. Multiple prototypes have already been spotted in numerous locations across the country, which confirms the SUV is nearing launch. While we wait for its reveal and launch date, we’ve spotted another interesting detail. Here’s a look.
Mahindra Vision S-Based SUV’s Interior Spied
We already knew that Mahindra’s upcoming ‘Mini Defender’ will feature a fairly new cabin design. Several elements, like the new AC vents, dashboard layout, and centre console design, will carry over from the Vision S concept. The latest spy shots have also confirmed parts-sharing with other Mahindra models. For example, the steering seems to be borrowed from the higher-spec XUV 7XO. The infotainment screen and climate control console look like the ones currently used in the Thar and Thar Roxx.

What Else Do We Know?
Mahindra has already confirmed this SUV will be based on the brand’s all-new NU_IQ platform. Since this architecture can accommodate multiple powertrain options, ranging from ICEs to hybrids and battery electrics, we expect this model to be available in multiple powertrain options down the line. This platform is also primarily intended to be front-wheel-drive.
Some media reports also suggest that the Vision S-based SUV will join the Scorpio family as a sub-4m offering. It could bolster Mahindra’s modern sub-4m compact SUV line-up, which currently hinges on the XUV 3XO & the Thar 3-door. It is also likely to be the first-ever front-wheel-drive iteration to join the Scorpio model family.

Mahindra Vision S Expected Launch
Based on our estimates, Mahindra’s ‘Mini-Defender’ could debut in Q4 2026, with prices announced at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo in February 2027.
