Mahindra has launched the all-new Thar starting at Rs 9.99 lakh. The go-to choice in SUVs has now gained a stock of new design refreshments and a slew of advanced comfort features, smart tech, and a few other additions that will ensure you glide over your next weekend off-roading trip without breaking a sweat.
What’s new with the design
As seen on the test mules, the new Thar has a fresh front fascia complemented by the addition of a dual-tone front bumper and R18 alloy wheels. All of these further add to the overall stance and appeal of the vehicle. Mahindra will now provide an all-new all-black theme interior with a new steering wheel. Beyond that, buyers will now be able to choose from an extended myriad of exterior colours, as two new colours by being called the Tango Red and Battleship Grey have been added to the mix.
New additions to the interior
Keeping convenience as the main focus, Mahindra has now equipped the once spartan off-roader with new features such as rear AC vents to ensure that your friends enjoy your next off-roading ordeal as well. A sliding armrest and a dead pedal in automatic variants, to further enhance the comfort quotient of the SUV. Beyond that, users will get door-mounted power windows and a rear-view camera to provide ease of driving. No longer will users have to disembark to get the refuelling done, as the car now has an internally operated lid. Additionally, Mahindra has introduced the new Thar, featuring a rear wiper and washer, as well as A-pillar entry-assist handles for navigating tricky trail entries.
Smart connectivity and features
The all-new Thar will now be equipped with a 26.03 cm HD infotainment screen that will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with USB Type-C ports, providing users with seamless integration of smartphone functionalities in the car’s systems. Beyond that, the all-new Thar now has a direction monitoring system that will give real-time information on the tyre orientation, enhancing the safety of the users.
Specially for the off-roading enthusiast, the Adventure Stats Gen II feature offers valuable off-road data such as racing tab, altimeter, outside temperature and pressure, trip meter, and steering direction, ensuring a better driving experience.

The users will be able to choose between three engine options. These include the 2.0 M stallion Petrol, which produces around 150Hp @ 5000 RPM and a max torque figure of 300 Nm between 1250-3000 rpm for manual and 320 Nm for Automatic. The two diesel options will be a 2.2L mHawk Diesel which produces 130 Bhp along with 300 nm peak torque between 1600-2800 rpm. Beyond that, users can also get the D117 CRDE Diesel engine that produces 116 HP and a peak torque of 300 Nm @ 1750 -2500 RPM.
