Mahesh Bhatt is one of the well-known directors in Indian cinema. From movies like Saaransh, Arth, Aashiqui to Sadak, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, and more, Bhatt has delivered some memorable films in Bollywood as a director.
While his professional life was highly praised by audiences and critics, Bhatt tried to maintain a low-key personal life. As we discuss the director, let’s dig deeper into his personal life.
Do you know that Mahesh Bhatt fell in love at 14 with an orphan girl? Yes, that’s right! The intensity of emotion was so much that reports claim Mahesh wrote letters in blood to his special someone. If you are wondering who this person is, then let us tell you-we are talking about Mahesh Bhatt’s first wife, Lorraine Bright, aka Kiran Bhatt.
Mahesh Bhatt revealed to his daughter that his first wife, Lauren, grew up in an orphanage, and despite their separation, he continues to care for her. In the interview, the filmmaker also discussed his past infidelity and his marriage to Alia Bhatt’s mother, Soni Razdan.
Reflecting on his first meeting with Lauren, Mahesh Bhatt shared and said, “I was only 16 years old and she was 14. She lived in an orphanage. Her mother didn’t have enough money to send her to school or boarding school. Then one day, I saw Lauren. She was standing at the gate of Bombay Scottish with other girls from her school. Lauren was extremely beautiful, and that was what attracted me. But I felt I wasn’t worthy of her, so it took me a long time to meet her.”
Mahesh Bhatt said, “One day, I gathered courage and went to her, introduced myself. I still remember offering her a Milan Supari.” Bhatt was deeply impressed by Lauren upon their first meeting. After this, Mahesh planned to meet Lauren again through a tailor. Bhatt said, “He used to sew school uniforms. I begged him to deliver my love letters to Lauren, but he told me it was too risky because if he got caught, he’d lose his job. But he turned out to be a good person. He took my love letters and gave them to her. I wrote a love letter to Lauren in blood, and her reply came in a love letter written in blood.”
