Story of Sandhi Puja and auspicious time
Randhi puja is between the end of Ashtami date and the beginning of Navami Tithi. According to beliefs, in this auspicious time, the Goddess Maa took the form of Chamunda to kill the demons named Chand and Mund. Although the auspicious time of treaty worship can occur at any time in the day, it is done at the same time. Today, on September 30, the auspicious time of Sandhi Puja will start at 5:42 pm and will be till 6:30 pm. According to the Puranas, treaty worship is the most auspicious during the last 24 minutes of Ashtami Tithi and during the early 24 minutes of Navami Tithi. It is believed that during this time Goddess Durga suppresses all evil powers.

What is the importance of treaty worship on Mahashtami?
According to the almanac, a treaty worship is performed for Goddess Durga on the Ashtami of the Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. Actually, Sandhi Puja is considered auspicious coincidence of Ashtami and Navami Tithi and this date is considered extremely auspicious. During the treaty worship, 108 red lotus are offered at the feet of Goddess Durga and 108 lamps are also lit.
