According to the story, the demon Raktabij had obtained the boon through rigorous penance that as soon as a single drop of his blood fell on the earth, many demons would be born. After getting the groom, she created an uproar in the world by using her powers. All three people trembled due to his terror. The gods challenged him for war. After this a fierce war started.

The gods were using all their strength to destroy Raktabeej. But as soon as even a single drop of blood falls from Raktabeej’s body, many Raktabeej would be born from it. After this all the gods took refuge in Mother Kali. Then Mother Kali took a monstrous form and reached the battlefield to protect the gods. After this he started killing the demons, but Raktabeej wore the armor of boon. On this the mother extended her tongue.

After this, instead of falling on the earth, the drops of demons’ blood started falling on the mother’s tongue. Then she went on killing the demons. In this way Mother Kali killed Raktabeej, but her anger had taken a monstrous form. It was necessary to calm him down, but no one had the courage to go near him. Then all the gods went to Lord Shiva and requested him to tell the solution to pacify Maa Kali.

Lord Shiva tried in many ways to pacify Mother Kali, but all his efforts were unsuccessful. Then he went and lay down in the path of Mother Kali. Then as soon as Mother Kali’s feet fell on Lord Shiva, she suddenly stopped and her anger subsided.
