Mahashivratri 2026 Fast Parana Time: As much as the fast of Mahashivratri is observed with devotion, it is considered necessary to break it with the same rules. In the year 2026, the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month will start on 15th February at 05:04 pm and will end on 16th February at 05:34 pm. Parana i.e. breaking the fast should always be done at an auspicious time so that the full results of the worship done can be achieved. Breaking your fast at the wrong time can leave your sadhana incomplete.
Mahashivratri 2026, auspicious time to break the fast
According to the scriptures, it is best to break the Mahashivratri fast within Chaturdashi Tithi and after sunrise. In the year 2026, the correct time to break the fast will start from 06:59 am on 16th February and will end at 03:24 pm. Breaking the fast during this time can prove beneficial for you. If you are worshiping all four Prahars, then do Parana only after completing the worship of the last Prahar. Parana done at the right time increases the possibility of providing new energy to the body and mind.
Rule of donation and worship before Parana
Just before breaking the fast, it is very important to worship Mahadev completely and offer him food. After morning bath, offer water to Shivling and repeat your wish. Before Parana, it is considered very auspicious to donate grains, fruits or clothes as per one’s capacity to a needy person or Brahmin. Donating completes the fast and brings happiness and peace in the house. Mahadev is very quickly pleased with charity and service, due to which there is a possibility of positive change in your life.
What to eat and what not to eat while breaking the fast?
The fast should always be broken with satvik food only. Do not eat too much fried or heavy food immediately after breaking the fast, it can have a bad effect on health. It is best to start Parana with water, fruits or simple food like rice and moong dal. Avoid using garlic and onion in food. Satvik diet is not only good for your body, but it also maintains the spiritual spirit within you. By eating light food you will feel light and energetic.
Caution and mental peace during Paran
While doing Parana, keep Mahadev in mind and maintain peace. It is auspicious to chant the mantra “Om Namah Shivay” before taking food. Keep in mind that even after breaking the fast, stay away from vengeful habits throughout the day and do not insult anyone. If for some reason you are not able to perform Parana in the auspicious time, then pray to Mahadev for forgiveness and then break your fast. By the immense grace of Mahadev, there will be prosperity in your life and all your obstacles will be removed.
