Magh Mela 2026: Magh Mela, the great festival of spirituality and faith, is at its last stop on the sands of Sangam. The last main bathing festival of Magh Mela will be held on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri in the year 2026. This will be the last opportunity for the devotees to attain Akshaya Punya by taking a dip in Triveni. This day is very special for the devotees doing Kalpvas in Magh Mela and the Shiva devotees coming from all over the country.

It is believed in Hindu religion that taking bath in Sangam on Mahashivratri brings immense blessings of both Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. The last (sixth) bath of Magh Mela on Mahashivratri in 2026 will take place on 15 February 2026, which is also the conclusion of the fair. Taking bath on this day in the morning during Brahma Muhurta between 4:00 am to 5:30 am is considered most auspicious and fruitful.

Flood of faith will surge on the banks of Sangam

Although there are many main baths during Magh Mela (like Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya and Vasant Panchami), but the bath of Mahashivratri marks the farewell of this fair. With the bath on this day, the Kalpvas which has been going on for a month is also considered complete. Devotees will perform Jalabhishek of Lord Bholenath after taking bath in Sangam early in the morning.

Special significance of Mahashivratri bath

According to religious texts, bathing in the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati on the day of Mahashivratri gives equal virtue as Ashwamedha Yagya. Bathing, charity and Shiva worship give special results on this day. This is the reason why it is also called the great bath of Magh Mela. On the day of Mahashivratri, devotees observe a fast and anoint Lord Shiva. Worship done with water, milk, Belpatra, Dhatura and ashes is considered very dear to Shiva. It is believed that worship done with true heart on this day brings happiness, prosperity, health and fulfillment of wishes.

Another chance to earn virtue

For those devotees who due to some reason could not take bath before Magh Mela, the last bath on Mahashivratri is a great opportunity to earn virtue. Taking bath in Sangam and worshiping Lord Shiva on this day brings positive energy and spiritual peace in life. Bathing, charity and Shiva worship give special results on this day.
