Mahashivratri 2026: Mahashivratri is the biggest festival dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is celebrated every year on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. This year this great festival will be celebrated on 15th February i.e. tomorrow. On this day, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped with rituals. Along with this, fasting is also observed. Keep these things in mind while establishing Shivalinga
- While installing Shivling in the house, it should always be kept in mind that the water bearing face of Shivling should always be towards the north. North direction is considered the center of positive energy. The water reservoir of Shivling should not be facing west, south or east.
- While worshiping Shivalinga, always keep your face towards north. According to Vastu Shastra, it is auspicious to worship Shivalinga while facing east.
Method of establishing Shivalinga
To establish Shivalinga in the house on the day of Mahashivratri, first of all take bath in the morning. After that spread a red or white cloth on the stool. Then keep the Shivling in a copper or brass plate. After this, anoint Shivling with Ganga water and Panchamrit. Chant the mantra Om Namah Shivay. After this apply sandalwood tripund. Offer things including fruits and sweets. Offer Akshat, Janeu and Kalava. Light a desi ghee lamp and perform aarti. Recite Shiv Chalisa.
