Moon On Shiv Head: Mahadev of God is the main deity in Sanatan Dharma. That period of blacks is called Mahakaal. Mahashivratri is the biggest festival dedicated to Mahadev. This festival is celebrated every year on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. This year this festival will be celebrated on 15 February. Devotees worship Shiva and fast on this day. The moon present on the forehead of Mahadev increases the beauty of his divine form manifold. Most of the people know that after drinking the poison released from the churning of the ocean, Lord Shiva placed the moon on his forehead to cool down the heat in the body. This is true, but the other reason for Shiva placing the moon on his forehead is also said to be the curse given by Prajapati Daksh to the moon god. According to mythology…
According to mythology, Chandrama was married to 27 daughters of Prajapati Daksh. These are known as constellations in astrology. Moon loved his wife Rohini more, due to which his other wives felt jealous. Seeing his daughters sad, Prajapati Daksh became very angry and cursed the moon.
Prajapati Daksh had given this curse to the moon
He told the Moon that his light would gradually diminish and he would disappear completely. Frightened by the curse of Prajapati Daksh, Chandradev took refuge in Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was pleased with Moon’s arduous devotion and gave up his life. To protect his honour, he gave him a place on his forehead. This is the reason why the moon waxes and wanes for 15 days.
