He said that from next week, imports from India may impose punitive tariffs up to 50%.
“India does not need this oil”
Navaro said that India used to buy about 1% oil of Russia before the attack on Ukraine in February 2022, but now it has increased to 35%. India does not need this oil. It is only planned to refine and profit. It has become a kind of laundromat for Kremlin. “After this statement by Navaro, India has said that it will continue to buy oil from Russia. India Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar responded to the criticism imposed by the US on India-Russia trade during his visit to Moscow. He said that India is surprised by the threats of America, because America had earlier asked India to help Russia to help stabilize the global energy market.
50 percent tariff imposed on India
Jaishankar said, “We are a country where Americans have been said for the last few years that we should take all possible steps to stabilize the world energy market, including buying oil from Russia.” The Trump administration says that this purchase of India is providing money to the war of Russia. For this reason, up to 50 percent of punitive tariffs will be imposed on things coming from India, which will be included in the most tariffs on the products of any country.

India sells in Asia at expensive prices
Navaro claimed that India buys cheap oil from Russia and refine it and sells it at expensive prices in Europe, Africa and Asia. According to Moscow’s Kasatkin Consulting, India buys 37 percent of Russia’s oil exports. He said, “India can be called ‘Maharaja of Tariff’. The money that we get from India, and the money we get from India is used to buy Russia oil, which later sells their refinors at expensive prices.”
