Mahabharat story: Today, everyone knows the stories of the Mahabharata war that took place between the Pandavas and the Kauravas in the Dwapar era. The war of Mahabharata is considered to be the end of the game of Chaucer between Pandavas and Kauravas. This war is remembered as the victory of religion over evil. Many important characters are found in the stories of Mahabharata. These include Draupadi and Ashwatthama.
Ashwatthama, son of Guru Dronacharya, fought on behalf of the Kauravas in the Mahabharata war. Ashwatthama not only fought the war, but he also committed a sin which put mankind to shame. Ashwatthama has immortality, but this boon is a curse for him. Let us know the reason behind this.
According to the story of Mahabharata…
According to the story of Mahabharata, when the war of Mahabharata ended and Duryodhana was lying on the battlefield in an injured state, Ashwatthama came to meet him. There Duryodhana made him the chief commander of the Kauravas and asked him to bring the heads of the five Pandavas. Ashwatthama also had to avenge the death of his father Dronacharya. He reached the Pandavas’ camp at night, where not only the Pandavas, but his and Draupadi’s five sons were sleeping.
Ashvatthama set fire to the camp, killing the Pandavas and Draupadi’s five sons. Draupadi was deeply hurt after knowing the news of her sons’ death, but even in this unbearable sorrow, she maintained her sanity. Then Arjun vowed to catch Ashwatthama and punish him. After this, Arjun defeated Ashwatthama, captured him and brought him in front of Draupadi.
Draupadi forgave
Draupadi bowed her head in shame and looked at the tied Ashwatthama. Then said that he is the son of Guru Dronacharya. Just as I am bearing the grief of my sons, I do not want Ashwatthama’s mother to have to bear the same sorrow. It is not right to give such pain to any mother, hence killing the Guru’s son is not right. Everyone was shocked to hear this from Draupadi. Lord Krishna was pleased with Draupadi’s decision.
After this, for this sin of Ashwatthama, Lord Shri Krishna took the gem from his forehead and cursed him that the wound on his forehead will always hurt and he will wander on earth till the end of Kaliyuga.
