The story of the curse of Ashwatthama
Ashwatthama Curse Story: In the Dwapar era, the Mahabharata war took place between religion and unrighteousness. Which lasted for 18 days and Pandavas won over Kauravas. Even today it is surprising to know about many interesting incidents related to Mahabharata. Today we are going to tell you about an incident related to Ashwatthama. Ashwatthama has also been a character in Mahabharata. He was the son of Guru Dronacharya. His father Dronacharya was killed in the war. To avenge his father’s death, Ashwatthama committed a crime for which he is still suffering the punishment, so let us know this story.
Dronacharya was a very powerful and skilled warrior. He became the chief commander of the Kauravas in the war after Bhishma Pitamah. Pandavas and Lord Shri Krishna knew that this war could not be won with Dronacharya present. Then Lord Shri Krishna made a plan. In the war, he asked Bhima to kill an elephant named Ashwatthama. Bhima did the same. After that Bhima started shouting loudly and saying that Ashwatthama has been killed.
Dhrishtadyumna beheaded Guru Drona
Dronacharya could not believe his son’s death. He asked Yudhishthir whether this is true? Then Yudhishthir said that Gurudev Ashwatthama was killed. After this, Dronacharya put down his weapons in grief over the death of his son and sat on the ground. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Dhrishtadyumna cut off the head of Guru Drona with his sword. When Ashwatthama came to know about this, he became very angry.
He decided that he would take revenge for his father’s death from the Pandavas. Then he killed five sons of Pandavas while they were sleeping at night. Not only this, to end the dynasty of Pandavas, Brahmastra was used to kill the child (Parikshit) in Uttara’s womb, but Lord Shri Krishna protected Uttara’s womb.
Lord Shri Krishna had given this curse
Lord Shri Krishna punished Ashwatthama for this heinous crime and took out the divine gem from his forehead. He was also cursed to wander alone on earth for 3000 years. He also cursed that the wound on his forehead would never heal and would always hurt. This immortality was a curse for Ashwathama because of the terrible pain and suffering. It is believed that due to the curse of God, Ashwathama has been wandering for ages.
