Shardiya Navratri, which began on September 22, 2025, is one of the most awaited and celebrated festivals in India, when people worship the nine different forms of Goddess Durga.
Navami, or the 9th day of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Maa Siddhidatri.
The Importance Of Navami: Maa Siddhidatri Katha
According to Hindu beliefs, at the beginning of the universe, Lord Rudra prayed to Adi-Parashakti, the supreme goddess of power, who had no form. She appeared in the form of Siddhidatri, and emerged from the left half of Lord Shiva, giving him the name Ardha-Nareshwar. It is said that she grants her devotees all types of Siddhis, and is worshipped not just by humans but also by gods and demons alike.
According to Drik Panchang, Goddess Siddhidatri sits on Kamal and rides on the lion and is depicted with four hands. She has Gada in the one right hand, Chakra in the other right hand, lotus flower in the one left hand and Shankh in the other left hand.
Maa Siddhidatri Puja Vidhi
On Durga Navami, devotees wake up early, bathe, and wear clean clothes. The idol or picture of Maa Siddhidatri is decorated with jasmine flowers, kumkum, and sindoor. After this, invoke the goddess by reciting her mantras and doing her aarti. You should also offer her homemade bhog, which is often halwa, puri and chana since most families do ‘kanjak’ or Kanya Puja today. After this, chant Durga Mantras and Siddhidatri mantra and ask Maa’s blessings for strength and protection.
Maa Siddhidatri Mantra
ॐ देवी सिद्धिदात्र्यै नमः॥
Om Devi Siddhidatryai Namah॥
Maa Siddhidatri Aarti
Jai Siddhidatri Maa tu siddhi ki daata
Tu bhakton ki rakshak tu daason ki maata
Tera naam lete hi milti hai siddhi
Tere naam se man ki hoti hai shuddhi
Kathin kaam siddh karti ho tum
Jabhi haath sevak ke sir dharti ho tum
Teri pooja mein to na koi vidhi hai
Tu Jagdambe daati tu sarv siddhi hai
Ravivaar ko tera sumiran kare jo
Teri murti ko hi man mein dhare jo
Tu sab kaaj uske karti hai poore
Kabhi kaam uske rahe na adhure
Tumhari daya aur tumhari yah maaya
Rakhe jiske sir par Maiya apni chaaya
Sarv siddhi daati vah hai bhaagyashaali
Jo hai tere dar ka hi Ambe sawaali
Himachal hai parvat jahan vaas tera
Maha Nanda mandir mein hai vaas tera
Mujhe aasra hai tumhara hi Maata
Bhakti hai sawaali tu jiski daata
