Vishal’s latest release Magudam has struggled to make an impact at the box office during its opening days, despite the actor taking on the additional responsibility of directing the action drama.
The film, which also stars Dushara Vijayan and Anjali, has recorded modest numbers since its release on August 14. Its fourth-day performance saw a sharp drop after the film had got relatively steady figures through the first three days. Despite this, Vishal has shared a post claiming that Magudam is continuing its ‘unstoppable run’ at the box office. The claim has got attention amid the film’s underwhelming theatrical performance and mixed-to-negative reviews.
Magudam Box Office Day 4 Sees Sharp Drop
According to Sacnilk, Magudam collected Rs 0.11 crore net in India on Day 4, recording the figure across 609 shows. The film’s total India net collection has now reached Rs 1.95 crore, while its India gross stands at Rs 2.22 crore. The film opened with Rs 0.60 crore net on Friday before witnessing an improvement on Saturday, when it collected Rs 0.68 crore. However, Sunday saw the collection fall to Rs 0.56 crore. The sharp decline on Monday indicates that the film has struggled to sustain its initial numbers during the first weekend.

The box-office performance comes despite Magudam opening alongside Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons, which has emerged as a stronger performer at the box office.
Vishal Claims Magudam Is ‘Dominating’ Despite Flak
Amid the film’s modest theatrical numbers, Vishal recently shared a post through the film’s official social media page claiming that Magudam was continuing its successful run. The post read, ‘DEFYING THE ODDS. DOMINATING THE BOX OFFICE!’ It further claimed that Magudam and its Telugu version Makutam had recorded a “rock-solid Monday hold” following Sunday’s performance, adding that the ‘mass rampage’ showed no signs of slowing down.
Social media users have criticised its screenplay, pacing and execution, with some describing the story as ambitious and dated. The film’s lengthy runtime has also been a point of criticism. Magudam marks Vishal’s directorial debut after filmmaker Ravi Arasu exited the project following reported creative differences. Vishal also takes on three roles in the film, which features Dushara Vijayan and Anjali in prominent parts. The action drama is produced by Super Good Films and features music by GV Prakash Kumar. Pon Parthiban has worked on the dialogues, while Anandh Kumaresan and Rajesh A Moorthy contributed to the Tamil and Telugu versions respectively.
