Annamayya district: The dead body of Kulvardhan, the main accused in the brutal rape and murder case of a seven-year-old girl was found in a lake near Kanasaniwaripalli in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh, tv9 telugu reported.

The body of Kulvardhan has been shifted to Madanapalle Government Hospital for post-mortem. Officials said that the cause of death is yet to be determined.

Rape and murder of a young girl:

The underlying crime is related to the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in class 2 in Madanapalle town. The child was at home on Monday due to a school holiday. When her mother called to check on her at 4.30 pm, the family members realised that she was missing.

An exhaustive search for her in the neighbourhood proved futile, prompting her family members to file a police complaint. A widespread net was cast by the police, with assistance from local WhatsApp groups.

Suspicion turned to Kulvardhan, a neighbour with a criminal record. Police arrived at Kulvardhan’s residence at 1.40 am on Tuesday, found him ‘sleeping’ and left the premises.

After the girl’s grandfather confirmed seeing the girl with the suspect, the police returned the following morning and found the child’s lifeless body in a drum in his house.

The accused had been on the run since the discovery of the child’s body until his body was found in Kurabalakota lake. Police have registered a case and are investigating the events leading to his death.
