Lungi Ngidi, Keshav Maharaj Create History; Become First Players In The World To Achieve MASSIVE Feat

South Africa defeated Australia in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in South Mackay. They thus won the series against the hosts, with a match to go.

One of the heroes of the match for the Proteas was Lungi Ngidi, who produced a spectacular bowling performance and won the Player of the Match award. In the first match win, Keshav Maharaj was the hero with the ball for the visitors. Now, both players have managed to create history by helping become South Africa to achieve a feat that has never been done.

Lungi Ngidi, in the second ODI, took the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, Xavier Bartlett and Adam Zampa. He thus finished with figures of 5/42. In the first ODI, Keshav Maharaj picked up five wickets for 33 runs. South Africa now become the first team in history, with two bowlers to take five-wicket hauls in the same ODI series vs Australia in Australia.

This was Lungi Ngidi’s second ODI five-wicket haul and incidentally, both of these have come against Australia.

South Africa Win By 84 Runs

South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first., but got off to a shaky start losing both openers early. However, it was Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs who go them back into the game. While Breetzke slammed 88, Stubbs got out for 74. The Proteas were all out for 277, with Adam Zampa beng the pick of the Aussie bowlers as he took 3 wickets.

The South African bowlers, especially Lungli Ngidi, were all over the Australian batters, as they were all out for 193. Josh Inglis was the only player who showed some resistance, slamming 87 runs. South Africa thus won by 84 runs, as they won the match and ultimately pocketed the series with a match to go.
