Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) crucial seven-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday were marred by a nasty incident involving spectators and cheerleaders.
The atmosphere inside the stadium was passionate and strong since Punjab needed to win to remain in the playoff race. On the other hand, images from the stadium showed some spectators allegedly acting inappropriately with the cheerleaders during the game. Police officers were also observed interacting with people engaged and making an effort to reestablish order, while security workers and police officials promptly responded to address the situation.

Punjab’s captain, led his team to victory with an undefeated 101 off just 51 deliveries. Iyer scored his first IPL century during the innings, which also put a stop to Punjab’s six-match losing record.
“I am ecstatic, to be honest. It is my first (IPL) hundred and it came at the right time when the team needed it. We won eventually after six consecutive losses,” said Iyer.

Earlier, Lucknow scored 196/6, with Josh Inglis leading the way with 72 off 44 balls. Punjab’s chase was supported by a vital 140-run partnership between Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 69, while Chahal recorded figures of 2/25.

“It was a tough season. We knew batting second gets easier here, so we were a few runs short. We want to look at the positives from this season and build on them. We need to take accountability and will come back stronger next season,” Pant said.
