Turns out, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited period romance Love and War is reportedly gearing up to unveil its first official promotional material. If the latest reports are to be believed, fans could finally get their first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the film on August 15.
As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers are planning to release the character posters for the lead actors on Independence Day, giving audiences their first official look at the ambitious period drama ahead of its Republic Day 2027 release. While several photos from the film’s sets have surfaced online over the past few months, this would mark the first official reveal from the production. The report further claims that is also considering presenting the first look in a video format. Although the character posters are said to be finalised, a decision on whether they will be unveiled as standalone posters or through a video announcement is reportedly still being discussed. The makers, however, are yet to make an official announcement.

Meanwhile, the film’s shoot is said to be in its final leg. Reports suggest that Vicky Kaushal has already completed filming, while Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are expected to complete within the next few weeks. Ranbir, who has been balancing the shoot with work on Ramayana, was recently spotted in Mumbai sporting his look from the Bhansali directorial. Principal photography is expected to conclude by the end of August.

The IMDb page for Love & War currently lists Deepika Padukone among the film’s cast alongside its lead stars. However, no character details or role description have been provided, leading to widespread speculation that the actress could be making a special appearance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. Neither the filmmakers nor Deepika have addressed the rumours so far.
Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 300 crore, the film is said to be the costliest project of Bhansali’s career. It also reunites the filmmaker with Ranbir Kapoor after their 2007 debut collaboration Saawariya, and with Alia Bhatt following the critically acclaimed Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film is currently slated to hit theatres over the Republic Day weekend in 2027.
