New Delhi: This year Los Angeles City Hall celebrated Diwali in a very special way. The event was organised by the Los Angeles City Council along with the Consulate General of India, Los Angeles. City Council member Nithya Raman, the first Indian American to serve on the council, led the celebration.
The program included the lighting of traditional lamps, Indian music and dance performances, and the presentation of a Diwali Proclamation by City Council Members Nithya Raman, John Lee, and Tim McOsker. They also welcomed the new Consul General of India, Dr KJ Srinivasa.
Former Los Angeles Mayor and current US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, attended the event along with many Indian community members from across the region.
For the first time ever, Los Angeles City Hall was lit up to celebrate Diwali. The bright lights symbolized hope, peace, and friendship between Indian and American communities.
The Consulate thanked the City of Los Angeles for honoring Diwali and recognizing the contributions of the Indian community to the city’s culture.
People gathered to watch the City Hall light up, celebrating the Festival of Lights with joy, unity, and a shared spirit of togetherness.
