The Malayalam cine-goers had expected Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra to hit the digital platform during the Diwali festival. Then, there was no confirmation from Jio Hotstar, which holds the digital rights of Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer flick.
After much delay, Jio Hotstar has formally announced the date of its release.
The Malayalam film Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra has captivated audiences since its release on August 28. Directed by Dominic Arun, this movie has become a box office sensation, earning ₹181.85 crore in India. The story unfolds in Bengaluru and introduces viewers to Chandra, a mysterious character portrayed by Kalyani Priyadarshan, who is advised to stay out of trouble.
Rumours have been swirling online about when the film might be available for streaming. These speculations persisted despite no official confirmation from the producers or streaming platforms.
Producer’s Response to OTT Speculation
Last month, Dulquer Salmaan, the film’s producer, addressed these rumours directly. On his X (formerly Twitter) account, he clarified that “Lokah” would not be available on OTT platforms anytime soon. He urged fans to disregard false news and wait for official announcements.
Despite Salmaan’s statement, new dates like October 17 and October 20 were circulated online as potential OTT release dates. However, these dates have proven inaccurate, adding to the confusion among eager fans.
When Will Lokah Release Online?
Jio Hotstar on Friday announced that the movie will be out on October 31. Well, the movie will have its digital release, exactly a week from now.
The storyline of “Lokah” revolves around Chandra’s interactions with her neighbours Sunny and Venu, played by Naslen and Chandu Salimkumar respectively. Their comedic presence adds levity to the narrative while maintaining focus on Chandra’s enigmatic presence.
As fans eagerly await more information about the film’s digital release, it remains clear that “Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra” continues to capture attention both in theatres and online discussions. The anticipation surrounding its OTT debut only adds to its allure.
