Lohri celebrated with traditional rituals, gaiety

JAMMU, Jan 13: As Jammu witnessed colourful and spirited celebrations of the Lohri festival on Tuesday, traditional rituals like gatherings around bonfire with gaiety and offering oblations to the sacred fire marked the occasion.

Besides private rituals and festivities by people at their respective homes, several public events were organized by social and political organizations highlighting the rich heritage and folk traditions of the region. Celebrations mark traditional Chajja dance, rhythmic dhol beats and musical presentations, creating a festive atmosphere.
Shree Sanatan Dharma Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir, organized a grand Lohri Milan celebration at Geeta Bhawan Parade, Jammu. , under the chairmanship of Parshotam Dadhichi. A large number of social workers, members of the business community, and representatives of various social organizations attended the event. The prominent guests present on the occasion included Dr Gautam Mengi, Prant Sanghchalak, RSS ; Prabhat Singh Jamwal, Working President, Sanatan Dharma Sabha; Arun Gupta, President, Chamber of Commerce; Neeraj Anand, President, Chamber of Traders Federation; Narayan Singh of Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha; Advocate Baldev Singh, Vice President, Bar Association; MLA Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi; MLA Bahu Vikram Randhawa; Sanjay Gupta ; Shakti Dutt Sharma, Abhishek Gupta, Shilpi Verma and others.
BJP, Jammu & Kashmir, celebrated the festival of Lohri with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour at its headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The celebrations were led by J&K BJP President and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma CA and General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul. Traditional nuts and sweets were distributed among all those present to mark the occasion. BJP leaders and activists also danced to the tune of traditional drums. Priya Sethi, Rakesh Mahajan, Rekha Mahajan, Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, MLAs Yudhvir Sethi, Ch Vikram Randhawa and Arvind Gupta, and other senior leaders of party were present on occasion.
Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress also celebrated Lohri at the party headquarters near Shahidi Chowk Jammu. Besides, JKPCC President Tariq Hamid Karra, Working President Raman Bhalla, former minister Yogesh Sawhney, JKPCC Chief Spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, Ved Mahajan, Neeraj Kundan and other senior Congress leaders were present on the occasion.
Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) celebrated the festival with joy, unity, and traditional fervour near the historic Maharaja Hari Singh Statue, adjoining Dogra Chowk and Tawi Bridge, Jammu. The programme was led by Mandeep Singh Rimpy, President YRS, along with former Presidents Vikram Singh Vicky and Rajan Singh Happy. Prominent core committee members who were present on the occasion included Mohinder Singh, Ramesh Singh, Bittu Singh, Balbir Singh, and Pushvinder Singh, besides other senior members of the state body.
