The limit reached when a cook ate it to prove his point. After this incident, students protested fiercely against bad food and uncleanliness in the hostel mess.
A surprising case has come to light from the hostel mess of a well-known technical institute in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Here a student from Madhya Pradesh claimed to have found a lizard in his plate of mixed veg. When he told about this, the mess staff shrugged it off saying that it was just a piece of capsicum. Matters became even more strange when a cook tried to prove his point by eating it in front of astonished students. After this incident, anger flared up regarding the safety of food in the campus mess and new questions have arisen.
The hostel people turned the lizard into capsicum.
- According to reports, the student was eating dal, roti and mixed veg when he found a suspicious thing in his food. He thought it was a lizard and immediately informed the hostel staff.
- However, the staff rejected this claim outright and said, ‘It’s just capsicum, how can you say that?’ But the matter did not end here. A cook picked it up in front of the students, put it in his mouth, chewed it and then claimed that it was definitely capsicum. He wanted to prove his point.
Issue created in school-college after video came out
- The incident reportedly took place on March 22. Shocked students made a video of it and shared it on social media. Within a few hours, the video was viewed millions of times, sparking a huge debate over food safety in schools and colleges.
- After this incident, students immediately started protesting and raised serious concerns over the quality of food served in the hostel mess. He said that on many occasions in the past, insects, dirt and even lizards have been found in the food.
- Many students said that they had been complaining about poor hygiene and substandard food for months, but the university management took no action. The protesting students submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, demanding immediate removal of the mess contractor, a thorough investigation into the functioning of the mess and compensation to the affected students.
