Aaliya Ebrahim said her doubles partnership with Roos van Reek played a key role in Chennai Super Warriors’ third-place finish at the Indian Pickleball League, with the duo delivering several decisive performances at the K.D. Jadhav Hall.
Reflecting on her transition into doubles, Ebrahim said the presence of her partner made the adjustment easier. “You know, it’ll be tough for me to transition, but like, it’s just been so smooth because of the teammates that I have, and yeah, it’s great so far. I’ve learned a lot,” she told Pickleball Now.
Speaking specifically about van Reek’s impact on the court, Ebrahim highlighted her partner’s speed and coverage. “With Roos, really, she’s just so fast in the court,” she said. “She’s so good. Like, she’s literally the man on the court. Like, she covers almost 80% of the court, and all I really need to do is support her and just put the ball back and like, you know, just be there and support her and just do my bit, and the rest Rose takes care of.”
Ebrahim added that the partnership allowed her to play freely. “Like, I don’t really need to do much to be honest,” she said.
Ebrahim and van Reek featured prominently in Chennai’s doubles matches and were involved in multiple extended rallies, where they contributed crucial points during pressure situations. The pair won the majority of their matches at Centre Court as Chennai dominated the round-robin stage and held the top position on the points table until the fourth day of the league.
The Netherlands international, Roos van Reek, emerged as one of the standout performers of the tournament and earned the nickname “beast” during the league after winning almost all her matches. Her only defeat came in Qualifier 1 against Hyderabad Royals’ Megan Fudge.
Chennai Super Warriors eventually concluded their campaign in third place, with their doubles combinations playing a decisive role in the team’s consistent run through the league stage.
