Lisa Ray Revisits the 1980s, Recalls Madonna, Michael Jackson and Duran Duran Memories

Actress Lisa Ray has taken a nostalgic trip back to the 1980s, recalling the music, fashion and carefree spirit that shaped her youth.

The Four More Shots Please actress shared a throwback picture on Instagram, offering a glimpse into her memories of the decade, from colourful leg warmers and experimental hairstyles to the fashion influenced by films such as Flashdance.

Lisa also remembered listening to music by pop icons Madonna and Michael Jackson and revealed her deep fondness for British band Duran Duran. She even named her pets after the group, highlighting the influence the era’s music had on her life.

Sharing the 1980s photograph, Lisa wrote, “I DID live through the 80s. Candy coloured leg warmers, questionable hair choices, Flashdance style sweatshirt, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Michael Hutchence. Named my pets after Duran Duran. Summers in Calcutta and long weekends spent cycling the neighbourhood in Toronto. Long drives with the radio blasting and in all that hazy sweetness of youth, an itch of rebellion.”

Reflecting on how those formative years shaped her, she added, “Am I am 80s kid? Resilient, independent and tough? Yup. But tempered now by life’s ruptures, having passed through unchosen borders. Maybe this version of me needs an 80s replay. Where’s the hairspray?”

In the photograph, Lisa is seen posing in a black pantsuit, with her open curly hair completing the distinctly retro look.

In recent months, Lisa has also been using her social media platform to speak openly about midlife fitness and the physical changes associated with different stages of life.

She had earlier discussed entering marriage while dealing with the aftermath of menopause. Lisa revealed that she experienced chemotherapy-induced menopause at the age of 37 and later met and married her husband at 40.
