Lionel Messi not Happy at Inter Miami? Manager Javier Mascherano gives Latest Update on ‘Beast’

Lionel Messi’s visible frustration in recent matches has become a topic of concern for Inter Miami.

Although the legendary forward returned to the scoresheet during the club’s 4-1 win over the New York Red Bulls last weekend, his demeanour before the game reflected a deeper dissatisfaction over the team’s recent struggles.

Messi, who had not scored in four games across competitions before the Red Bulls match, was evidently unhappy with Inter Miami’s form-especially after their 3-1 loss to Vancouver in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup last month. The defeat not only ended their continental hopes but also coincided with a dip in league form, pushing them down to fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 21 points.

Manager Javier Mascherano, who shares a long history with Messi from their Barcelona and Argentina days, addressed the situation ahead of their next league clash against Minnesota United. He described Messi’s competitive mindset, saying, “Leo is a competitive beast – it’s normal. Those of us who’ve known him for a long time understand how demanding he is, not only with himself but also with those around him.”

The recent win also saw Luis Suarez end his goal drought, matching Messi in finding the net after a frustrating dry spell for both attackers. With league commitments now taking full focus, Mascherano admitted the team needs reinforcements, particularly in the final third.

Mascherano also confirmed that they are planning with a long-term view as Inter Miami prepares for the FIFA Club World Cup later this year.

“I think we need to focus on bringing in someone who truly strengthens us as a team. And yes, I’m exploring options,” the manager added.
