A 3-match ODI series is being played between India and Australia. The first match of this series was affected by rain, in which Australia won by 7 wickets. Now the second match of the series will be played on 23 October at Adelaide Cricket Ground. The Indian team is going to be eyeing a comeback in the series. To prepare the pitch for this match, the ground staff has resorted to a unique method, which has attracted everyone’s attention.
Unique way to prepare the pitch
In fact, the ground staff was seen using ultraviolet UV lights to prepare the pitch at the Adelaide Oval, so that the surface could be made dry and playable amid the possibility of rain. The first ODI was played in Perth, where rain badly affected the game. Rain was also seen in Adelaide before the second ODI. Due to which there may be more moisture in the pitch.
In the photos and videos going viral on social media, groundsmen are seen using UV lights to keep the pitch safe. Many UV-drying lamps are installed on the 22-yard pitch of Adelaide. One reason behind this is that due to bad weather the pitch was covered for a long time. It is clear from this that Australia is making full use of technology to completely control its home conditions and does not want to give any chance to Team India to make a comeback.
Who will benefit from UV lights?
It is clear from the groundsman’s use of UV lights that he wants to make a dry pitch. A dry pitch means that the surface will have more bounce and faster pace, which will be favorable for Australia. At the same time, the high bounce and fast-paced pitch will become a problem for the Indian batsmen, who are used to batting on spin-friendly pitches. Something similar was seen in the first match of the series also. The ball was coming at the chest height of the Indian batsmen, due to which they were in trouble.
