In Gorakhpur, CM Yogi gave keys of EWS/LIG flats to 160 poor families before Diwali. Inaugurated 50 projects worth Rs 118 crore and said – now houses for the poor will be built in place of mansions of mafias, housing distribution was done with complete transparency.
Before Diwali, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh realized the dream of giving their houses to the poor. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over the keys of EWS/LIG category flats to 160 families in the high-rise building located in Palm Paradise, Deoria Bypass, Gorakhpur, and also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 50 development projects worth Rs 118 crore. During the program, the CM said, “Every family dreams of having their own house, and today on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, this dream of 160 families has come true. This is not just a house, but a historic achievement that changes the direction of life.” He also planted saplings at the venue.
Housing distribution done with transparency and priority
The Chief Minister said that the distribution of flats was done through a completely transparent process. 40 displaced families were given priority in the GDA Housing Scheme, while the remaining 120 families were selected through a lottery system. He said that EWS flats measuring 35 square meters are available for just Rs 5.40 lakh instead of the market price of Rs 13–15 lakh, while LIG flats measuring 41 square meters are available for Rs 10.80 lakh. Yogi said, “When the government and public representatives are honest, there are no obstacles in providing houses to the poor.”

Modern facilities in high-rise building
Praising the location and structure of the residence, CM Yogi said, “This place near Ramgarh Tal and Zoo is very beautiful. The high-rise building here has all the modern facilities.” He directed GDA to form residential committees for the maintenance of buildings, so that regular maintenance of lifts and other facilities can be done.
“Instead of mafia mansions, now houses of the poor”
The Chief Minister said, “In Uttar Pradesh, houses are now being built for the poor on the lands occupied by the mafia.” He told that last year in Prayagraj, 76 flats were given to the poor on the land captured from the mafia, while in Lucknow also construction is being done on the same model. He added, “Now instead of the mansions of mafias in the state, houses will be built for the poor.”
“More than 60 lakh poor people got the gift of house”
CM said that due to PM Awas Yojana and initiatives of the state government, more than 60 lakh families have got houses in Uttar Pradesh. He said, “When the intentions are clear, the results are also for the public welfare. Good governments respect the public trust.” Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan, MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, District Panchayat President Sadhna Singh and many MLAs were present in the program.
