This is the same Ramchet whose struggle-filled life was given a new direction by Rahul Gandhi. But perhaps fate had something else in store, serious diseases like cancer and TB took his life.
Rahul Gandhi expressed grief, talked to family members
As soon as the news of Ramchet Mochi’s demise was received, Rahul Gandhi spoke to his family members on phone and expressed his deep condolences. He sent a Congress delegation from Amethi and Sultanpur and assured all possible help. It is being told that Rahul’s team has also provided financial support.

When Rahul Gandhi reached Ramchet Mochi’s Gumti
Ramchet, a resident of Dhesrua village, used to work as a tailor of shoes and slippers in a small kiosk at Mochi Nagar intersection. Last year, when Rahul Gandhi was returning after appearing in Sultanpur court, he suddenly stopped his convoy and met Ramchet. Rahul not only got to know her condition but also appreciated her work and also learned the skill of sewing from her hands.
Rahul Gandhi gave new hope, both machine and help
After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi had sent a modern shoe-sewing machine and necessary raw material to Ramchet. Not only this, he called Ramchet to Delhi and also introduced him to his mother Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi. During his visit to Delhi, Ramchet had gifted his handmade shoes to Rahul, Sonia and Priyanka.
Illness again took away the smile, Congress leaders came and paid tribute
With the help of Rahul, Ramchet’s business started slowly, but luck did not favor him. A few months ago he was diagnosed with cancer and TB. Rahul Gandhi also got him treated at the Cancer Hospital in Prayagraj, but he breathed his last this morning.
On the instructions of Rahul Gandhi, many Congress leaders including Amethi Congress in-charge Brijesh Tiwari, Sultanpur District President Abhishek Singh Rana reached Ramchet’s house. He handed over financial assistance to the family and assured that the Congress Party stands with the family in this difficult time.
The life of Ramchet Mochi is the story of a working-class India full of hope and struggle. A cobbler who won the hearts of big leaders by stitching shoes, and then inspired everyone with his work. Even though Ramchet is not among us today, his simplicity and hard work will always be remembered.
