“Lick the urine otherwise…!” Dalit elderly man was brutalized in Kakori, Chandrashekhar got angry

Lucknow Kakori News: The inhuman incident of licking urine from a Dalit elder in Kakori, Lucknow has shaken the state. Accused arrested, opposition’s noise intensified. Akhilesh Yadav, Chandrashekhar Azad and Congress demanded strict action from the government.

A shameful incident that came out of Kakori in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has shocked the entire state. An elderly Dalit man was allegedly forced to lick urine in the Sheetla Mata temple complex on Diwali night. Now this matter is not limited to just police files, but has become the center of state politics.

Insult incident in temple: Dalit elders in fear

This incident happened at Shitala Mata Temple in Kakori when elderly Rampal was drinking water in the temple. Then accused Swami Kant alias Pammu accused him of urinating. Rampal clarified that only water had spilled, but the accused used casteist words and threatened him and forced him to lick the ground. Out of fear Rampal tolerated the insult and did what he was told. After the incident, tension and anger spread in the area.

The pain of the victim’s family: illness, helplessness and humiliation.

Rampal’s grandson Mukesh Kumar told that his grandfather has trouble breathing and his condition worsens if he does not take medicine. On the night of Diwali, he coughed in the temple and during that time some urine came out. Pammu got enraged at this and used caste based abuses and asked him to lick the urine. Rampal did this out of fear and helplessness. Later they were also forced to wash the place.

Boil in politics: SP, Congress and Bhim Army targeted

After the incident, the activism of political parties increased rapidly. A delegation of Samajwadi Party MP R.K. Reached Kakori under the leadership of Chaudhary. Former MP Kaushal Kishore and MLA Jai Devi Kaushal also met the family. SP President Akhilesh Yadav said, “Someone’s mistake does not mean that he should be given a humiliating punishment. It is a stigma on humanity.”

Congress said, “This incident is an example of the anti-Dalit mentality of BJP and RSS. The culprits should be given strict punishment.” However, the police clarified that the accused has no direct connection with any political organisation.

Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad’s sharp reaction

Bhim Army chief and MP Chandrashekhar Azad called it not just a crime but a symbol of the “rooted mentality of casteism”. He said, “This incident is an attack on the soul of the Constitution. The accused should be given strict punishment under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. The victim should get government protection, compensation and treatment.”

Police action: Accused arrested, investigation ongoing

Police have arrested the accused Swami Kant alias Pammu and a case has been registered. Officials say that the safety of the victim has been ensured and the investigation of the case is continuing under the supervision of SP Rural.
