Coldrif Cough Syrup: Tamil Nadu government has taken strict action after the case of death of 22 children due to Coldrif cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh. The license of cough syrup manufacturing company Srisan Pharmaceutical has been canceled and the owner of the company has been arrested.
Coldrif Cough Syrup: Tamil Nadu government has taken strict action after the death of 22 children due to drinking Coldrif cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh. The license of Srisan Pharmaceutical Company, which manufactures cough syrup, has been cancelled. Apart from this, the government has also ordered investigation into other pharmaceutical companies of the state. The Tamil Nadu Drug Control Department formally shut down the company after completion of the investigation. There were indications of high quantity of a dangerous substance called diethylene glycol being found in this cough syrup.
Court sent Ranganathan to police custody for 10 days
The court has sent Ranganathan, owner of Sreesan Pharmaceutical Company, to 10-day police custody. On October 9, he was arrested by Madhya Pradesh SIT. Also, the Tamil Nadu government has suspended two senior drug inspectors associated with the company. Coldriff cough syrup was banned in many states. Madhya Pradesh government had constituted SIT to investigate this matter, whereas the cough syrup plant is in Tamil Nadu. BJP leader Annamalai had criticized the Tamil Nadu government for this incident. Now the government has canceled the license of the company and locked its plant.

Delhi government bans cough syrup
In Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, the health of many children deteriorated due to drinking cough syrup. According to media reports, the children’s parents took them to the doctor when they were suffering from cold and cough. The doctor advised him to take Coldrif cough syrup. But after taking the syrup, the condition of the children started deteriorating and gradually more than 20 children died. Delhi government has also banned the sale of Coldrif cough syrup. In Chhattisgarh and many other states, many children have died due to this syrup.
