Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Puri, Dr. Akshay Satpathy said that if timely treatment is not received, it can take the form of ‘septicaemia’ or blood infection, which proves fatal. Apart from this, the adverse effects of some medicines used to treat lice are also being investigated.

This incident has created anger among the local people and volunteers. Social workers have raised questions about parents’ awareness and not seeking medical help on time. This case is a serious warning that ignoring even small problems related to cleanliness can be fatal. The administration has now ordered a detailed investigation into this matter.
