More than 2 lakh women have joined the scheme

The Insurance Sakhi Yojana started on 9 December 2024 and received a good response. According to Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, more than 2 lakh women have been involved in this scheme so far and they are earning around Rs 7,000 every month. In the financial year 2024-25, insurance was paid to insurance and Rs 62.36 crore, while LIC has kept a budget of Rs 520 crore for 2025-26. This means that the government is serious to spread this scheme to more women.

What is the qualification required to apply for the insurance Sakhi Scheme?

  • Only Indian citizen women can apply for this scheme.
  • Age limit: 18 to 70 years.
  • Minimum Educational Qualification: 10th pass.
  • Existing LIC agents, retired employees or their close family will not be eligible.
  • This scheme is only for women who want to become an insurance agent for the first time.

Women will get stipend for three years

Under the Insurance Sakhi scheme, women will be given stipend for three years-

  • First year: Rs 7,000, month (bet- 65 percent of policies should be operational)
  • Second year: Rs 6,000, month (bet- 65 percent of policies should be operational)
  • Third year: Rs 5,000, month (condition-65 percent policies should be operational)
  • Apart from this, commission is also available on selling policy. There may be a commission of up to Rs 48,000 in the first year.
